RC News #39: A Double Win in Quebec!
Zach and I won Canyon Masters 2024, we're off to Europe, we're selling snails, and we've started a Patreon!
It's been an eventful week for us - let's recap!
August 24, 2024
Zach and I participated in a local competition at Canyon Escalade, a staple climbing gym from our youth competition days.
It was a one-day event that fit perfectly with our training schedule as we continue to taper for our upcoming World Cups. We started our day with a relaxed, 11 AM qualifying round where our top six hardest boulders sent went down on our scorecard.
I qualified for finals in first place, and Zach in second.
Finals started at 6 PM. The format was an emerging favorite throughout Montreal - rush format. Each gender has three boulders. The six finalists are split into two groups, and each is given ten minutes per boulder. As a group, you can watch each other climb, offer beta, and unlike any other format in climbing, know your competitors' scores.
It's a fun format that takes a lot of the stress and pressure out of competing, but certainly couldn't be used in a National or International setting. That's why it's so exciting to be able to compete in this format at home!
The final round went well for me and Zach, and we were able to secure the illusive double-Richardson win!

Zach has received his invitation to the final World Cup of the season in Seoul, South Korea!
That means Zach and I will both compete at the upcoming World Cups:
- September 20-22 Prague, Czech Republic
- October 2-4 Seoul, South Korea

We're off to Germany!
Ahead of the Prague World Cup, Zach and I will fly to Frankfurt to get on the timezone, train in our old homestead, and collaborate with another YouTuber!
